Now that January is over, and we have all been over-hyped and underwhelmed by our New Year's resolutions, we can focus on 5 simple lifestyle habits that help us win at life every single day.

These are no-pressure, stress-less ways that help redefine the way we think about ourselves and live life.

  1. Be your own cheerleader. There was a point when I thought I was the only one who had negative self-talk. As a teenager, I thought something was majorly wrong with me as that negative voice said I wasn't good enough, or popular enough. Then, I realized that the only thing I had control of was not what other people thought about me or did or didn't do, but what I thought and said to and about myself. There are still times when I struggle, but I also am not afraid to say that I'm good at something and understand that I'm not good at everything and that's ok too. The more your practice being your own cheerleader, the more you also realize that you can become other people's cheerleader - this is clearly a win for everybody.

  2. Focus on health. Ok, I know everyone knows this, and it's so much easier said than accomplished. The key to this is the way you feel. When you eat healthy foods and fuel your body with nutrition instead of sugar, fillers and chemicals, you feel better. Exercise versus sitting on you bum all day also make you feel better. And guess what? When you feel better, your self-talk improves, and it's way easier to follow tip one to be your own cheerleader.

  3. Go on adventures. I love this one. There is something amazing about putting a picture of Hawaii on your vision board, and then hopping on a plane to Hawaii a few months later. Make sure your life is full of adventures, even if it's just a walk down a new trail in your neighborhood, or a visit to a new restaurant, or attending an event you typically would not attend. Life is made more exciting and challenging by adventure, and it's a great way to stimulate your mind and growth potential.

  4. Strive for balance. Balance is something that I continually focus on because it's too easy to fall off. Life is constantly changing, so we must constantly adjust and readjust to make sure we stay balanced. The best kind of balance is when your mind, body and soul are all in alignment. It's amazing when you don't feel overwhelmed by work, or parenting, or social life. A great way to be balanced is to be aware of how you feel and what your family and friends, and boss tell you. If you are focusing too much on work, try to adjust to spend more time with family, and vise versa with work commitments. The other tips in this article also all work together to make sure you stay in alignment.

  5. Make sure you have a support net. One of the best things I've ever done in life was build a support system. When I was going through a divorce while pregnant, I had a support system of family and friends, and it made it so much easier to make it through that obstacle. When I started my own business, I had a support system of a savings account and family, friends, and connections. I knew if I fell miserably, that they would catch me and help me climb back up. Building and knowing you have a support net is a great way to win at life because with the right team backing you up, you can overcome anything.
