Ultimate Plan to Success
First of all, in order to achieve success, you need to define your version of success. Success looks quite different depending on what goal you are trying to achieve.
You could be planning a wedding or building a house, or simply picking out an amazing gift for Father’s Day. Maybe your dealing with struggle, such as a loss of a family member or a setback in a project.
In any of these situations, it’s important to first define your success. Is it a feeling? Is it an event? Is it a situation?
Try to find a way to measure your success – SMART goals are a great way to realize your achievements.
S – specific, significant, stretchingMake your goal specific – I want to get more followers on my blog.
M – measurable, meaningful, motivational, metricsTry to add something you can measure the success by – I want to get 100 more followers on my blog.
A – agreed upon, attainable, achievable, acceptable, action-orientedUse action to achieve the goal – I want to get 100 more followers on my blog by posting more often.
R – realistic, relevant, reasonable, rewarding, results-orientedUse realistic measurements and goals – I want to get 100 10 more followers on my blog by posting more often.
T – time-based, time-bound, timely, tangible, trackableUse timelines and deadlines to make your goals have an end point and tracking point – I want to get 10 more followers on my blog by the end of the month by posting once per week.
Next, follow these six steps to better achieve your desired outcome:
1. Think big.
Even if it seems impossible, find inspiration by thinking bigger. Look at dream weddings at the best venue in town. Explore websites of top notch photographers. Visit model homes that are outside of your price limits. Follow businesses and entrepreneurs that are interesting to you.
No matter what you are trying to achieve, someone else has probably worked on something similar. The internet is full of ideas to help you expand your vision. Thanks Google!
2. Vision boarding.
Vision boards are one of my major keys to success. I try to collect magazines that are inspirational or inspiring. Don’t overthink it – just find images that pull you in. A great place to collect magazines is from the local library. You can also post on Facebook or Nextdoor, or text your friends and ask for their magazines. Most people are happy to donate.
Grab some poster board and glue sticks, and start sticking on images that motivate you. When using a vision board for a plan or two, find images that will help remind you of what you are hoping to achieve. Once again, sky is the limit.
3. Exercise daily.
Say what?! Yes, I think people majorly overlook exercise and general health when they become focused on a new goal or deal with a major life transition. Regardless of what you are going through or preparing for, eating healthy and exercising will always help you reach your outcome.
Start by taking a walk or doing some morning stretches. YouTube also has amazing channels with some fun workouts. Some of my favorites:
Watch your diet and try to pick healthy options when possible. It’s totally okay if you miss a day of exercising or eat a double cheeseburger, just try to get back on track the next day. Trust me, you’ll feel better.
4. Write it down.
Another major key to success is to write down your goals, your dreams, your tasks, your ideas, etc. You know that crazy business idea you had last week. Maybe in a few months from now it won’t seem as crazy when you meet the exact person who can help you obtain the goal. If you write it down, you’ve already started the first step toward manifestation. I love using my notepad on the computer, Google Docs or Asana.
Or maybe, you feel like there are about 2,000 things you need to do to plan for your upcoming event.
5. Balanced focus.
Depending on what we are dealing with, we may over focus on it or completely try to avoid it. It’s important to create balance. Life is still going on around us and our plans, and we have to handle it. Dedicate time each day to work on your plan to success, but don’t stress yourself out by feeling like it all has to be handled at once.
After I went from barely being able to walk a mile to running a half marathon, I realized that incremental steps can help you achieve success big time. No matter what you are trying to achieve, try to divide your plan into steps that are easier to obtain.
6. Commit to action.
Commitment is probably the most important step. In every one of the ideas mentioned, there is one guarantee: Nothing will go as planned. There will be ups and downs. You will feel amazing about it at certain points and be in a state of completely anxiety at other times. In order to achieve success, you have to stick it out.
Keep going when times are tough. In these hardest moments, remember these steps. Focus on that ultimate outcome, and remind yourself that anything is possible if you don’t give up.
